“I Dance, You Dance, We Dance…to Stand Against Violence”

The Pueblo of Acoma Social Services is organizing a community event to raise awareness on the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking.  “I Dance, You Dance, We Dance…to Stand Against Violence” will take place on October 23, 2015 at Sky City Casino conference room from 6 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.  We would like to invite tribal programs to set up a resource table during this event.  If you are interested in co-sponsoring this event, please e-mail Monica Garcia  mlgarcia@puebloofacoma.org or call P.A.S.S. at 552-5162 If you have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact us. ATTENTION Pueblo of Acoma Community Members, we need your Moccasins!


The Haak’u Museum we will be opening a traveling exhibit titled, To Feel the Earth, Moccasins in the Southwest. We need moccasins to display in the exhibit which will be on show for one year. The run dates are October 17, 2015 – September 4, 2016. We are accepting all styles of “mocs” (wraps, low cuts, men’s, women’s, children’s, etc) in all colors and in all conditions (yes it is okay if they have a hole or two and are dirty.) If you’re not wearing them we want them! You will be able to pick them up when the show is over.
