Senator Udall raised cultural repatriation with Secretary Jewell during a Senate Interior appropriations hearing. He expressly mentioned Acoma. She acknowledged the importance of the issue, noted that the New Mexico tribes were active, described her conversations in France, but also expressed concern about where to find resources to create an “antiquities unit” at BIA.
The exchange starts around 14:20 and goes to around 17:54.
