Duende Promotions brings a Traditional Irish concert to Acoma Saturday afternoon.
Mr. Paul Trujillo has worked with the Pueblo and the Cultural Center to setup a concert that will be filmed as part of a show for Irish telivison and warmly extends an invitation to any Acoma Community members that may want to attend.
THIS SATURDAY AT 12PM AT THE HAAKU CULTURAL CENTER AND MUSEUM IN THE THEATER.
The show will consist of legendary Irish Singer Sharon Shannon. Flutist Steven Rushingwind and Fiddler Arvel Bird
SEATING IS AVIABLE, FIRST COME FIRST SERVE AND IS FREE TO ALL ACOMA TRIBAL MEMBERS….
This concert series is being performed in other spots in New Mexico and all proceeds go to charity including “dig deep” –water quality for New Mexicans, Save the Children and Cuidando los ninos. Duende Promotions has also made a donation to the Governors Scholarship for $1,000.
Senator Udall raised cultural repatriation with Secretary Jewell during a Senate Interior appropriations hearing. He expressly mentioned Acoma. She acknowledged the importance of the issue, noted that the New Mexico tribes were active, described her conversations in France, but also expressed concern about where to find resources to create an “antiquities unit” at BIA.
